My unexpected incredible summer with OCN

My unexpected, incredible summer with OCN

A few days ago, I was thinking that I haven’t made enough of my own decisions. There are a lot of things I’d like to have done, but never did.

Today, I felt I made one of the best decisions of my life, my unexpected, incredible summer on the beach happened! It was not in my plan to volunteer, but it just happened! I dared to share, I mean, to give a little bit of myself without expecting anything in return.

Afternoons full of fun dynamic activities, creating awareness, laughs, great sun, beach, sand, cool friendly people, friendship, meetings and of course, a community willing to develop and reach its goals. All of that has contributed to make me a better kind of person.

I’m working on the HELP Environment project, and I have to admit I started with no experience. It was my first time teaching little kids (it was nothing easy for sure!), I learnt to be more patient, looked for ways they could get to know me better, and I was not only focused to teach things but also to raise awareness about environmental issues which we’re struggling to reduce nowadays. So that they can develop into the change makers of the future.

Not everything in OCN is about teaching. I also have a variety of other activities I participate in.

For us, part of being a volunteer is to learn more about peruvian culture (I do as a peruvian I’m for sure haha!), and there’s no a better way to do it than living a real experience through meetings, events and tourism.

I do know for now, it’s possible to find out there is a place that you can call a second home. Where you can grow up and learn to trust more on your own abilities. OCN have half of my heart already! I know I’ll be supported every time. Because before I leave my country I want to make sure to have done a perfect job in my society, to show I can make a difference in any way. 🙂

YEAH! It feels so good to be free to make my own decisions and get out of my comfy zone. I can’t wait to see how much I can get in the upcoming days.

Ask me what I did in my summer holidays..
