HELP SWIM

HELP SWIM

HELP Swim provides free swimming lessons and environmental education about clean water stewardship to underprivileged children who live along Huanchaco's coast. Lessons typically take place in the southern summer, through January & February.

HELP Swim has two objectives:
  • The advancement of health and the saving of lives by the provision of swimming lessons for children and teaching and training in all aspects of water safety.
  • The advancement of education in all aspects of clean water especially through water stewardship lessons with children with a view to protecting the environment.

The environmental classes offered alongside swimming lessons are focused on understanding global climate change, and how to prevent pollution - especially of bodies of water, as well as learning what is understood by reusing and recycling common house litter. At the end of these lessons, children have to present a final project, a product of their own imagination made of reused and recycled materials.

WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP
Swim Tayka made a significant contribution by collaborating with Otra Cosa from 2017-2024 to provide crucial drowning prevention education to the children of the District of Huanchaco. Through this partnership, more than 200 children have successfully participated in the swimming program, which has potentially saved lives. We aim to leverage the knowledge and experience gained from this partnership to further develop HELP Swim.

From our 2025 delivery cycle, the project benefits from the support of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation - www.fondationprincessecharlene.mc
